About
Solas
Solas (pronounced sul-us) is the Irish word for light - a fitting representation of our mission: bringing clarity, compassion, and visibility to the systems and people who make meaningful therapy possible. We partner with therapy centres and ABA professionals across the UAE to strengthen the foundations of ethical, sustainable, person-centred ABA practice. Our work is grounded in contemporary ABA, assent-based approaches, and a deep commitment to cultural responsiveness and respecting individual differences.
Meet Aoife Rafter
Founder & Consultant BCBA, IBA
Hi - I’m Aoife (pronounced ee-fa) Rafter, an Irish Board-Certified Behavior Analyst with nearly a decade of experience using Applied Behavior Analysis in wide range of settings. Over time, my work has evolved from direct therapy to supporting organisations - having seen first-hand how clinical quality depends not only on what we teach, but on how centres support their teams, structure their systems, and make decisions. My approach to ABA is rooted in compassion, dignity, and assent. Learners deserve to be willing participants, families deserve to be heard and included, and practitioners deserve structures that help them succeed rather than burn out. Having worked as a therapist, supervisor, trainer, and consultant, I understand the realities staff face: the emotional labour, the complexity, the need for clear expectations and supportive leadership. My goal is to create environments where staff feel valued, learners make meaningful progress, and families experience genuine partnership. At Solas, I support centres in building the conditions for ethical, effective, person-centred care - from supervision clarity and documentation systems to staff training and program guidance. When teams feel equipped and valued, learners thrive and families feel genuinely supported.
